This 13 foot high chandelier is made of 3,000 handcrafted plaster bones..

Carey’s title for this work refers to the idea that people don’t see death directly, rather they only recognize it, “in the eyes of  others”. The copied bones of the chandelier are someone else’s, not our own. Weighing more than a ton, the collection of bones seem to reach toward the earth, hanging heavily as if rebelling against the form in which the artist has assembled them…
